Course Description:
This 5-day advanced level IBITA-certified course is designed to deepen participants’ clinical reasoning and therapeutic skills related to postural transitions applied to individuals with a range of neurological conditions.
The theoretical component of this course will discuss the neurophysiology underpinning the interactive relationship of postural control and selective movement for postural transitions. Through patient demonstrations, patient treatment sessions, and practical sessions, the course participant will gain an opportunity to translate theoretical knowledge into clinical practice. The model of Bobath clinical practice will be utilized to explore clinical reasoning at an Advanced level.
Prerequisite:
IBITA/NDTA certified Basic Bobath course
Course Objectives
IBITA Advanced Course Objectives

b. Initiate and implement problem-solving strategies for persons with neurological disorders.
c. Validate specific handling skills, environmental modifications and the use of verbal cues through self-evaluation.
d. Identify patient potential and achieve optimal function
e. Consider the theoretical evidence base and in-depth movement analysis to assist treatment intervention.
f. Evaluate response to treatment using relevant outcome measures.
Additional course specific objective
g. To gain an increased theoretical understanding of postural control and postural transitions
including associated biomechanics, motor control and neurophysiology.
