Sara graduated from McMaster University in Hamilton, Ontario in 2006 with a bachelor’s degree in Kinesiology (B.Kin Hons). She went on to complete her Masters of Science in Physical Therapy (MSC PT) degree from Queen’s University in Kingston, Ontario in 2008.  Sara moved to Vancouver in 2008 to begin her Physiotherapy career with Vancouver Coastal Health; working briefly with orthopedic populations followed by a rotation in acquired brain injury where she discovered her passion for neurological rehabilitation.  Sara worked for 10 years on the Acute Neurosciences Unit at Vancouver General Hospital (VGH); 7 of which were spent split between VGH and a private practice focused on Neurological rehabilitation (Neuro-Ability Rehabilitation Services). She spent 2 years on the Executive of the BC Neurosciences Division (a subdivision of the Neurosciences Division of the Canadian Physiotherapy Association). Sara is currently working on the in-patient Acquired Brain Injury program at GF Strong Rehabilitation Centre in Vancouver.

 

To expand her knowledge and expertise in the field of Neurological Rehabilitation, Sara has taken several post-graduate courses, many focused on the Bobath Concept as well as Vestibular Rehabilitation.  She earned her Vestibular Competency Certification through Duke University and the American Physical Therapy Association in 2015.  She is currently an Instructor-Candidate with the International Bobath Instructors Association (IBITA) and a member of the Canadian Bobath Instructors Association (CBIA); teaching introductory level courses and working towards qualifying as an IBITA Basic Course instructor.
